A Minneapolis woman, who may have been under the influence of alcohol, drove into a pedestrian and a Metro Transit bus shelter early Sunday morning. The pedestrian was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with massive head injuries and probable traumatic brain injury.
The pedestrian has been identified as Christopher S. Iverson, 48. He was standing at a bus stop on East Lake Street at 39th Avenue just after midnight.
The driver, a 49-year-old Minneapolis woman, was taken to the Hennepin County jail on pending criminal vehicular injury charges. Police spokesman Sgt. Minnesota Drunk Driving Statistics
In 2008, a government study revealed that Minnesota has some of the most dismal drunk driving statistics in the United States. 23% of Minnesota drivers reported driving under the influence of alcohol in 2007 – the third highest percentage among all 50 states.
Drunk drivers in Minneapolis cause an unbelievable amount of pain and suffering, killing or injuring dozens of innocent people every year. The Minnesota Drunk Driving Attorneys of TSR Injury Law are dedicated to helping those who have been hurt – or who have seen their loved ones hurt – because of someone’s irresponsible decision to drink and drive.
Accidents involving pedestrians are often disputed by insurance carriers. Often the only witnesses are those involved in the accident. You need an investigator to inspect the scene of the accident for physical evidence that may help prove what happened. It is in your best interests to hire a lawyer as soon as possible. Successfully filing a Minnesota personal injury suit against the responsible party can win you compensation for:
- Past, present, and future medical expenses
- Wages lost to medical leave or loss of your job
- Your current physical and emotional suffering
