Child Drowning near Long Lake Beach
New Brighton police and Ramsey County Water Patrol were called around 2:30 p.m., Wednesday afternoon about a possible drowning near a Long Lake beach. A 6-year-old-boy was unresponsive after being rescued from 8’ deep water.
The boy was found, by lifeguards, within minutes of being reported missing. He was given CPR and taken to Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare, in St. Paul, and is listed in critical condition. No further information is available at this time.
The boy was on a field trip with a group from Roseville schools. The beach was closed for the rest of the day. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
Was There Adequate Supervision?
Parents can be very trusting and naïve. Most parents assume that a school-sponsored event will be safe and have enough adult supervision. That obviously was not the case with this swimming outing. What when wrong? Who is responsible? Who will pay all of the medical bills? An experienced personal injury attorney will be able to help you through the legal maze.
