Erik became a partner in our firm in 2015. Over the last several years, he has shown himself to be a tireless advocate for his clients and a great asset to the firm. His clients regularly compliment his work and results by referring him their friends, family and co-workers who are in need of legal help following an injury. Erik’s experience includes auto accidents, slip and fall claims, railroad/train accidents, dog bites, premises liability claims, wrongful death actions, and traumatic brain injury claims.
He has been an active member of the Minnesota Association for Justice since 2003 and has served on its Board of Governors since 2008. For the last several years, he has chaired MAJ’s publications committee which is responsible for producing and providing relevant content of interest on legal topics to MAJ members. Erik has all organized and spoken at numerous continuing legal education seminars on topics ranging from No-Fault arbitrations to governmental immunity.
Erik has been named a Rising Star numerous times in the last few years. This honor is reserved for the top 2.5% of outstanding, young lawyers in the state of Minnesota. The selection process for a Rising Star includes peer nominations and then extensive third party research and evaluation of professional achievements, representative clients, experience, honors, special licenses and certifications, pro bono and community service, and other outstanding achievements.
He is admitted to practice in Minnesota’s State and Federal courts and has also practiced in Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Indiana, and West Virginia under special admissions rules. He has likewise represented clients from Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, New York, Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, Colorado, and Washington.
Erik grew up in Monroe, Michigan. After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in 1997, Erik moved to Washington, DC where he worked as a legal assistant at a large law firm and with the DC City Attorney’s office in the area of child abuse and neglect. In 2000, he returned to his Midwestern roots to attend the University of Minnesota Law School where he served as Managing Editor of the Minnesota Intellectual Property Review.
Since entering the practice of law, Erik has worked tirelessly as an advocate for his clients. Through settlements, work in trial courts, the court of appeals, and even a successful case in front of the Minnesota Supreme Court, he has stood up for his clients’ needs and interests.
Erik and his wife live in west Bloomington with their three children. When he is out of the office, Erik enjoys spending time playing with his kids, cooking on his Big Green Egg, enjoying the outdoors in one of Minnesota’s many state parks hiking and camping, taking in shows at the Guthrie Theater, and golfing.
